According to a source with direct knowledge of the situation, Tom Manning will return to Iowa State’s coaching staff for the 2019 football season.
Manning’s exact role within the program is has still not been officially set.
Manning, who spent 2016 and 2017 as Iowa State’s offensive coordinator under Matt Campbell, left last spring to become the tight end’s coach of the Indianapolis Colts, who lost last week in the NFL Playoffs to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Iowa State spent the 2018 season without officially naming an offensive coordinator.
Manning also served as Iowa State’s offensive line coach in 2016 and 2017.
We will have more information and analysis on this story as it evolves but according to a source, Manning is expected to be back in Ames working for Iowa State as early as next Monday.
