As the start of Big 12 season looms around the corner for the Iowa State women’s basketball team, the Cyclones, with a dominant start to the year, have returned to the Associated Press Top 25.
The team led by Bridget Carleton is ranked No. 25 going into their Big 12 opener against Kansas State.
The Cyclones played one of the hardest schedules in the nation, ranked 10th overall in Strength of Schedule.
It proved to pay off, as far as the poll goes.
It is the second time in the 2018-19 season the team has been ranked, after being voted into the Week 4 poll days before dropping its first game to South Dakota.
Iowa State spent five years outside of the rankings before appearing in the poll this season.
The team’s first Big 12 game against Kansas State will take place at Hilton Coliseum on Wednesday night, with tip off being at 6:30 p.m. The game will be televised by Cyclones.tv.
