IRVING, Texas – Iowa State junior defensive end JaQuan Bailey was named Big 12 Co-Defensive Player of the Week after his performance in Iowa State’s 30-14 win over No. 6 West Virginia on Saturday.

A native of Jacksonville, Fla., Bailey spearheaded a dominating defensive effort, limiting the previously unbeaten Mountaineers to just seven offensive points and 152 yards of total offense, their lowest output in 23 years.

Bailey had two of ISU’s school-record-tying seven sacks, as the Cyclones boast back-to-back seven-sack games. Bailey also was instrumental in helping the Cyclones register a safety late in the fourth quarter, forcing a holding call with the quarterback in the end zone.

Bailey ranks third in the Big 12 in TFL (9.5) and fourth in sacks (4.5). His career 15.0 sacks ties for fourth in school history.

It marks the second week in a row a Cyclone earned the honor. Safety Braxton Lewis was the recipient last week.
