Iowa State has landed a commitment from Plano, Texas defensive back Virdel Edwards, according to a report by 247Sports‘ Alex Halsted. Edwards is the 21st commit in the Cyclones’ 2019 recruiting class and the third cornerback in the class.
Edwards, 6-foot-1, 185-pounds, chose Iowa State over offers from Colorado, Texas Tech, Purdue and a handful of other FCS programs. He is rated as a three-star prospect and is considered the No. 162 cornerback in the class.
The Prestonwood Christian product is the second 2019 cornerback to join Iowa State’s class this week along with Florida defensive back Kym-Mani King. Iowa State’s 2019 recruiting class is ranked No. 31 in the country by 247Composite.
