Former Iowa State star Deonte Burton has agreed to play for the Oklahoma City Thunder during the 2018 NBA Summer League, according to a report from ESPN.
Burton, who finished his Iowa State career in 2017, spent the past season with DB Promy in the Korean Basketball League. He was amongst the league’s best players while averaging 23.8 points and 8.7 rebounds per game as a rookie.
The Milwaukee native’s performance in his first professional season earned him league MVP honors and he led his team to the league finals before losing in six games.
This will be Burton’s second Summer League stint as he spent last year’s summer slate playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves. That came after a breakout senior season in which the former Marquette transfer averaged 15.1 points and 6.2 rebounds while helping lead the Cyclones to their third Big 12 tournament title in four seasons.
