Royce White will be back in Cardinal and Gold this summer.
The former Cyclone star announced Tuesday afternoon on Twitter he will play with the Hilton Magic Legends in 2018’s edition of The Basketball Tournament in July.
White, who averaged 13.4 points, 9.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.2 steals during his one season on the court for the Cyclones in 2011-12, joins a Hilton Magic Legends roster that already included former ‘Clones Diante Garrett, Tyrus McGee, Jared Homan and Jameel McKay. The team will once again be coached by Iowa State legend Marcus Fizer.
The Basketball Tournament is a 72 team winner-take-all tournament for a $2 million cash prize. Hilton Magic Legends played in the tournament for the first time last season, losing in the second round of the Midwest Regional.
The previous year’s regional champion is grandfather into the bracket with the other spots going to the top-nine teams in a fan voting portion plus four more at-large bids. You can support Hilton Magic Legends’ bid to make the field for the second straight year right here.
