Former Iowa State stars Georges Niang and Naz Mitrou-Long both scored more than 20 points in their return to the court as teammates. The duo combined to score 43 points in the Salt Lake City Stars’ 112-108 loss to the Sioux Falls Skyforce Wednesday night.
Mitrou-Long scored a team-high 22 points on 7-of-17 shooting and 3-of-10 from behind the arc. The sharpshooter also added nine rebounds and six assists in his return to the G-League after spending the past several weeks with the Utah Jazz.
Niang, who signed a two-way deal with the Jazz late last week, scored 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting and 3-of-4 from 3-point range in his debut with the franchise. He also contributed seven rebounds.
The game was also a return to the Stanford Pentagon for the two college teammates, who beat Colorado at the arena to open the 2015-16 season.
Even though the game ended in a loss, it is pretty dang cool to see Georges and Naz wearing the same uniform again.
