Iowa State’s Nick Weiler-Babb is the Big 12 Player of the Week following his MVP performance in helping the Cyclones win the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.
Weiler-Babb averaged 17.7 points, 9.3 rebounds and 8.7 assists during the three games in South Carolina after taking over the primary point guard role for Iowa State. He posted career-highs of 23 points against Appalachian State, 14 rebounds against Tulsa and 11 assists against Boise State.
The Arlington, Texas native is one of two players nationally averaging at least 15.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists while also shooting 60 percent from the field this season. His 15.6 points per game are second on the team while he is the team leader in rebounds (7.6) and assists per game (6.2).
Iowa State will be back in action on Saturday when it hosts Western Illinois for a 7 p.m. tip at Hilton Coliseum.
