Lewis and Lard to miss exhibition game against Emporia State due to “coach’s decision”

Freshman forward Terrence Lewis and redshirt freshman center Cameron Lard will miss Iowa State’s exhibition game against Emporia State on Sunday, Cyclones head coach Steve Prohm said Friday afternoon. The players will not play due to a coach’s decision.

Iowa State will have graduate transfer forward Zoran Talley, who missed the Cyclones’ secret scrimmage against Nebraska also due to a coach’s decision.

“They’ll be out, that’s my decision,” Prohm said. “We’ll reevaluate that next week. Obviously, we’ve got 10 guys, we’ll have eight suited up to play.”

Lewis, a 6-foot-6, 195-pound Milwaukee native, was rated as the four-star recruit out of Riverside High School. He was the No. 118 player in the country, according to 247Composite. He scored four points while shooting 2-of-6 from the field in the scrimmage loss to the Huskers last weekend.

Lard scored 13 points, grabbed six rebounds and blocked five shots in the scrimmage. The 6-foot-9, 220-pound center redshirted his first season in Ames after arriving on campus in January.

The two players’ status for next Friday’s season-opening game on the road at Missouri will be determined next week.

“We’re going to hold these guys to a high standard for what I want in my program,” Prohm said. “That’s really all that needs to be said. There’s a certain standard, they’ve got to live up to it if they want to represent Iowa State and Iowa State men’s basketball.”
