Former Iowa State point guard Monte Morris played his best game of the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas when all the chips were on the table Wednesday.
Morris scored 15 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished four assists off the bench to help Denver advance into the second round of the league’s playoffs with an 87-81 win over Houston. Iowa State’s all-time leader in assists and steals shot 5-of-9 from the field in 24 minutes of play.
Torrey Craig led the Nuggets with 27 points while Robert Carter Jr. added 14 points and 10 rebounds.
The Nuggets, who entered the playoffs as the No. 23 seed, advance to face the No. 7 seed Brooklyn Nets on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. central time.
