RECRUITING: Iowa State adds running back for 2017

Iowa State has added immediately eligible running back Johnnie Lang for the 2017 season, a source confirmed to Cyclone Fanatic. The news was first reported by CycloneAlert‘s Alex Halsted.

Lang was originally a member of the 2016 recruiting class, but failed to qualify. He held offers from Arizona, Florida State, Kentucky and a handful of other schools after a high school career at Manatee High School in Florida.

The 5-foot-7, 185-pound ball carrier ran for 2,106 yards and 32 touchdowns in his junior season at Manatee. He transferred to East High School in Utah after legal issues led to him moving across the country.

Lang will join sophomore David Montgomery and redshirt junior Mike Warren in competing for carries in 2017. It will be a welcome addition to the roster as the Cyclones look to fill the void which will be left by Kene Nwangwu’s possibly season ending achilles injury.
