Recruiting is weird. When you are attempting to fill two open scholarships in the middle of June, the process becomes even more bizarre, if not maddening.
Last week, we reported that 2017 guard Parker Stewart had scheduled a visit to Iowa State. He had. However, for one reason or another, that visit never happened.
According to a source, the Stewart camp has told Iowa State that the program is still in contention to land the 6-foot-5 shooting guard. However, the fact that Stewart, who signed with Ole Miss last fall, has visited Georgetown and Pitt but not Iowa State puts Steve Prohm’s program at a significant disadvantage.
Last week, we reported that Tennessee native Rodgerick Brown had received an Iowa State offer. According to a source, the 6-foot-7 forward will officially visit Iowa State sometime next week.
Brown, who has already visited Florida Gulf Coast and Middle Tennessee State, has upcoming visits scheduled for Wichita State and UAB as well.
Last but certainly not least, Rivals.com is reporting that 2018 point guard Jordan Lathon will officially visit Iowa State later this week.
According to a source, this recruitment will likely come down to Iowa State and Northwestern, where Lathon will visit this weekend.
The 6-foot-4, 175-pound guard hails from Grandview, Mo. Lathon is currently the 128th ranked player in Rivals’ class of 2018.
