Former Iowa State Cyclone Royce White was named the most valuable player of the National Basketball League in Canada earlier this week. White set a new league record for triple-doubles in a season with five and was named the league’s player of the week twice.
He was top-five in the league in scoring and rebounding with 19.7 points and 9.7 rebounds per game for the London Lightning.
White, who was drafted in the first round of the NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets after his one season with the Cyclones, scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead London to a 109-107 victory in the first game of the Central Division Finals on Friday.
London finished the season with a league best 39-5 record. They’ll take on Windsor in game two of the Central Division Finals on Sunday.
