KANSAS CITY — This game was never close.
Iowa State absolutely smothered TCU in Friday night’s Big 12 Tournament semifinal – the final score being 84-63.
It was 40 minutes of absolutely beautiful basketball by Steve Prohm’s squad that improved to 22-10 on the year.
Led by Deonte Burton’s 22 points, five rebounds and four assists, Iowa State took a 44-27 advantage to halftime and a tired TCU team never made things interesting.
Due to the large lead, Iowa State was able to rest its starters for significant minutes in the second half which could prove to be important in tomorrow night’s Big 12 Championship Game.
Iowa State will meet the winner of Kansas State and West Virginia, who will play in the second tournament semifinal tonight at the Sprint Center.
The title game is scheduled for Saturday at 5 and can be seen on ESPN.
