Iowa State and Deven Lamp mutually part ways

Cedar Hills (TX) defensive end Deven Lamp will not be a part of Iowa State’s 2017 recruiting class after a mutual parting ways, a source confirmed to Cyclone Fanatic. Cyclone Alert’s Alex Halsted was first to report the news.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound three-star committed to the Cyclones on June 28 after an unofficial visit to Ames.

Lamp originally chose the Cyclones over offers from Air Force, Army, Nevada and a few other schools. Iowa State now sits at 21 commits in its 2017 class with a little more than two weeks left until signing day.

Iowa State’s class, which will end in the range of 23-25 commits, still includes seven defensive linemen. Four of those commits, Kansas defensive end Angel Dominguez, California defensive tackle Tucker Robertson, Ohio defensive end Dan Sichterman and in-state defensive end John Nagel, are high school prospects.

Stay tuned to Cyclone Fanatic for more on this story.
