Christmas has gone and passed. However, the Iowa State women’s basketball team received a late Christmas gift as JUCO recruit, forward Bride Kennedy-Hopoate, committed to the Cyclones on Monday.
Kennedy-Hopoate is a big time get for head coach Bill Fennelly and company. According to All Star Girls Report, Kennedy-Hopoate is the No. 1 JUCO recruit in the nation.
Through 11 games this season at Hutchinson Community College, Kennedy-Hopoate is averaging 12.3 points and 5 rebounds per game while shooting 53 percent from the field.
Along with that, Iowa State is expected to lose some size after this season–as Seanna Johnson and Heather Bowe are set to graduate. Getting a seasoned veteran like Kennedy-Hopoate, who stands at 6-foot-4, should help ease the pain from those losses.
Iowa State’s 2017 recruiting class now contains Kennedy-Hopoate, 5-star forward Madison Wise and two 3-stars in No. 1 and No. 2 athletes in the state of Minnesota, point guard RaeAnnah Johnson and forward Kristin Scott.
