Iowa State will be part of the field for the 2017 Puerto Rico Tip-Off, the school announced on Thursday. The Cyclones join Boise State, Florida State, Illinois State, South Carolina, Tulsa, UTEP and Western Michigan in the eight team bracket.
The tournament is scheduled for Nov. 16-19 at Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan. The Cyclones officially have their early-season tournaments set for the next two seasons as they’ll head to the Maui Invitational in 2018.
The tournament could set up an interesting subplot, depending on matchups, that pits former Iowa State head coach Tim Floyd, now the head coach at UTEP, against his old school.
This year’s edition of the Cyclones will take on The Citadel on Sunday afternoon at 1 in Hilton Coliseum.
