Iowa State will officially start the 2016-17 men’s basketball season as a top-25 team for the third straight season. The Cyclones checked in at No. 24 in the preseason AP Top-25 released Monday morning.
Iowa State extended its streak of 57 consecutive weeks in the Top-25, the longest run in the polls in school history. Kansas and Arizona are the only two teams with longer streaks.
The Jayhawks came in at No. 3 while the Wildcats are No. 10.
Duke led the poll followed by Kentucky, Kansas, Villanova and Oregon to round out the top five. West Virginia (No. 20) and Texas (No. 21) were the other two Big 12 teams to make the poll.
Iowa State will host Sioux Falls in an exhibition at Hilton Coliseum Sunday night at 6.
