West Delaware tight end John Nagel picked up an Iowa State offer earlier this week and it didn’t take long for him to take the next step in his recruitment.
Nagel, a 6-foot-6-inch, 230-pound, tight end/athlete committed to Iowa State on Friday, a source confirmed to Cyclone Fanatic. He was previously committed to Northern Iowa.
Nagel is rated as the two-star recruit by 247 and he’s the No. 15 player in the state of Iowa. He also holds offers from Army, Air Force, Eastern Michigan and a handful of FCS programs.
He’s caught seven passes for 135 yards and two touchdowns during West Delaware’s 3-0 start to the season. He’s also stacked up 14.5 tackles, four solo tackles for loss and one sack.
The Hawks are currently ranked No. 6 in Class 3A by the Des Moines Register. They’ll face Center Point-Urbana at home on Friday.
Nagel is the second tight end in Iowa State’s class joining Norman North (OK) product Charlie Kolar. He’s the 20th commit in Iowa State 2017 class and the sixth from Iowa.
