AMES — Late in Iowa State’s 45-21 loss to No. 3 TCU on Saturday night, it appeared that what has recently been a greatly improved rushing attack would potentially be a decimated group for this week’s trip to No. 2 Baylor (11 a.m. on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2).
Iowa State’s top-two running backs, Mike Warren and Joshua Thomas, both left the game due to undisclosed leg injuries. Additionally, Iowa State’s top offensive lineman, junior Daniel Burton, left the game with an apparent knee injury.
Good news…
“They (the two running backs) were 100 percent in the weight room this morning anxious to practice,” head coach Paul Rhoads said in his weekly press conference.
And Burton…
“Daniel was not as big of a concern as we thought when it occurred,” Rhoads said. “We thought it was his MCL, it was more of his patella. He will be fine.”
As of 12:30 p.m. on Monday, the Big 12 had not released its television and kick time information for Iowa State’s Oct. 31 homecoming game vs. Texas. We will update that when it is available.
