IRVING, Texas – Iowa State freshman center Bryanna Fernstrom earned her second Big 12 Freshman of the Week award, the league announced Monday.
Against Fairfield, Fernstrom grabbed her first career double-double with 20 points and a career-high 11 rebounds in just 20 minutes of action. Fernstrom shot 63.6 percent from the field off 7-of-11 shooting. She also went a perfect 2-of-2 from deep and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe.
The Center City, Minnesota native, is the only freshman in the Big 12 to win multiple weekly honors this season. Over the last four seasons, Iowa State has had seven different Freshman of the Week winners, while no other Big 12 team has more than three.
