Iowa State releases 2014-15 women’s basketball schedule

AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State women’s basketball team announced its schedule for the 2014-15 season Wednesday. The Cyclones’ season-opener is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 16 against USC-Upstate at Hilton Coliseum.

The Cyclones’ schedule features 13 games against teams that advanced to NCAA Tournament play last season. A total of four games will be played against teams that advanced to the Sweet 16. In all, Iowa State’s schedule features 17 games against teams that played in a postseason tournament.

The Cyclones’ first three regular season match-ups are at home with ISU starting the season against the Spartans on Nov. 16, followed by hosting in-state rival Drake on Nov. 18, and Cincinnati on Nov. 23.

Over Thanksgiving Break, Iowa State will travel to Moraga, Calif. to take part in the St. Mary’s Thanksgiving Tournament on Nov. 28-29. ISU’s first game will be against the Wyoming Cowgirls on Friday, Nov. 28, and the Cyclones will take on tournament hosts St. Mary’s the next day.

The Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series match-up against Iowa will be in Iowa City at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Thursday, Dec. 11. 

ISU will close out the non-conference schedule with the Cyclone Challenge on Dec. 29-30. Iowa State will start the tournament off with a match-up against Howard. The Cyclones will then take on either Brown or UC-Riverside the following day to close out the non-conference slate.

The Cyclones will stay at Hilton Coliseum to open up the Big 12 Conference slate, with Kansas State coming to Ames on Jan. 3. Iowa State will then make its first Big 12 road trip of the season to Fort Worth, Texas to take on TCU on Jan. 7.

Kicking off postseason action, the 2015 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship will be held March 6-9 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Dates are still subject to change and a complete schedule featuring tip-off times and television will be announced at a later date.
