Earlier this week, Jeremiah George told CycloneFanatic.com that he thought he would be taken anywhere from the fifth to seventh rounds of this weekend’s NFL Draft.
Chalk this up as a best-case scenario for the former Cyclone linebacker. George, who led the Big 12 in tackles as a senior, was taken with the 14th pick in the fifth round Saturday by the New York Jets.
“He plays hard," ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay said about George. "He’s not a striker as a tackler but is a very reliable tackler in space. He does all of the little things right."
George marks the fourth Cyclone to be drafted in the last five years. In New York, he will join fellow former Cyclone Jeremy Reeves who was signed by the Jets earlier this offseason.
As of 2 p.m. on Saturday, former Cyclone punter Kirby Van Der Kamp had not been selected.
