News on the Iowa State/NFL free agency front has been rather quiet since the completion of this weekend’s draft.
Former Cyclone linebacker Jeremiah George was the only Iowa Stater that got drafted (New York Jets), but safeties Deon Broomfield and Jacques Washington did sign a free agent contracts with the Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns, respectively.
"Speechless. Headed to the Buffalo Bills!"
That’s what Broomfield, who accumulated 57 tackles in 12 starts as a senior, tweeted on Saturday evening.
Washington, a Second-Team All-Big 12 free safety, started every game during his last three seasons with the Cyclones (38).
In addition to the safeties, tight end Ernst Brun will reportedly attend mini-camp with the Oakland Raiders as well.
As of Sunday afternoon, there are no other known Cyclones that have signed free agent contracts with NFL teams, although that could change as the day goes on.
