Ejim’s status still uncertain for Michigan game

AMES — Iowa State cruised through its first two opponents this November without Preseason All-Big 12 forward Melvin Ejim but business will undoubtedly pick up on Sunday when seventh-ranked Michigan comes to town.

Will Ejim, who hyper-extended his knee two weeks ago, be able to give it a go?

“I have no idea right now,” Fred Hoiberg said after Tuesday’s 80-50 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. “He hasn’t really gone out and done anything live. He was still limping a little bit this morning on it. We’ll see.”

Ejim had his knee re-scanned on Tuesday and plans to work out on his own Wednesday.

“We have our off day,” Hoiberg said. “Then Thursday he will probably go and do some light drills. I don’t think we will do any contact with him.”

It is too early to know if Ejim will go or not but Hoiberg did have this to offer regarding his chances.

“I wouldn’t say they are real high.”

Is this legit or is Hoiberg practicing gamesmanship with the Wolverines?

Stay tuned.

Hoiberg will hold a media session on Wednesday afternoon and perhaps another update will be given at that point.
