AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State women’s basketball team finished second nationally in average attendance in 2012-13, the highest finish in the history of the program. Iowa State averaged 9,970 fans per game, the fourth highest average in program history.
The Cyclones finished behind Tennessee (11,390) and ahead of Louisville (9,358), Baylor (9,160) and Notre Dame (8,979), which rounded out the top five.
In 15 home games, ISU topped 10,000 fans 10 times, including a season-high 11,963 fans for the Cyclones’ 16-point win against Kansas State. In total, Iowa State drew 149,557 fans for its home contests. Only 12 NCAA Division I schools drew over 100,000 fans this season.
Iowa State finished 13-2 at home, the 10th time in 18 seasons under Bill Fennelly with two or less losses at Hilton Coliseum.
Five Big 12 teams were ranked among the top-30 in attendance.
