It wasn’t easy. But it’s never easy. If you’re a diehard reading this, you get it. If you’re a newcomer, then welcome.
This is the life of a Cyclone.
Iowa State jumped out to a 55-27 at one point in its nerve-racking 83-74 win over the West Virginia Mountaineers on Saturday afternoon. Sure – being outscored 54 to 39 in the second half was disturbing for fans, but it was a road win that put Iowa State’s final record in the Big 12 at 11-7.
What’s that mean?
Put on your dancing shoes Cyclone Nation. Good luck trying to find a scenario that won’t include Iowa State in the 2013 NCAA Tournament. The Cyclones are in.
Will Clyburn had a lot to do with that on Saturday, The senior scored 27 points with 10 rebounds to lead the way for the Cyclones, recording his seventh double-double of the season. He was joined in double figures by three other Cyclones – Korie Lucious, Georges Niang and Chris Babb with 21, 14 and 11 points respectively.
Iowa State made 14-of-23 3-point attempts (60.9 percent) in the game and out-rebounded the Mountaineers 39-to-24.
Up next for Iowa State is a date with the Oklahoma Sooners in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship on Thursday in Kansas City. Tip-time is schedule for 11:30 a.m.
