AMES — Iowa Western Community College running back Aaron Wimberly verbally committed to Iowa State on Aug. 22.
Wimberly, who ran for 1,150 yards and 13 touchdowns during his sophomore campaign in Council Bluffs, never actually de-committed from Paul Rhoads’ program, but had been taking official visits to Boise State, TCU and Penn State in recent weeks.
On Sunday night, Wimberly re-affirmed his commitment to Iowa State via Twitter.
"Its official Im going to Iowa State #cyclonenation."
Wimberly averaged an impressive 7.4 yards per carry for the JUCO national champion Reivers this season.
The plan is that he’ll officially sign with Iowa State on Wednesday of this week and attend Iowa State during the spring semester.
