Recruiting Roundup: 9-27 Edition

Get ready for a busy recruiting weekend on the basketball and football fronts. Here’s a quick guide to you recruiting junkies out there as to who will be on camus, official or unofficial, you get the picture.

FOOTBALL

To my knowledge, the Iowa State football program will host three official visitors this weekend. Two of them have already committed to Paul Rhoads’ program. Those men are:

***Alex Leslie – A 6-foot-5, 220-pound TE out of New Braunfels, Texas.

***Trevor Hodge – A 6-foot-2, 190-pound QB out of Citrus Hill High in California.

Joining these two futures on an official visit will be…

*** Ernest Suttles, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound defensive end out of Tampa, Fla. (Gaither). According to Suttles profile at Rivals.com, he currently claims offers from: Iowa State, Indiana, Ball St., UMass, Memphis, Middle Tennessee St., Ohio and Western Michigan.

BASKETBALL

The Iowa State men’s basketball program will host two official visitors this weekend and three unofficial visitors.

*** Onalaska, Wisc. guard Matt Thomas, who has already verbally committed to Iowa State, will finally take his official.

*** Joining Thomas on an official will be Dustin Hogue, a 6-foot-6 wing out of Indiana Hills Community College. This could very well be Iowa State’s next commitment for its 2013 class.

The unofficial visitors will be…

***Clayton Custer – A 2014 point guard out of Overland Park, Kan. Custer has already unofficially visited Iowa State a few times.

*** Nick Noskowiak – A 6-foot-2 2015 point guard out of Sun Prairie, Wisc. To my knowledge, this will be his first visit to Iowa State.

*** Sean O’Mara – A 6-foot-9 center out of Lisle, Ill. Like Noskowiak, this appears to be his first visit to Ames. Rivals.com’s profile page states that O’Mara already has offers from Illinois and Virginia.

Chris Williams

Chris was hired as Cyclone Fanatic’s publisher in the fall of 2009. He is Iowa State football's postgame show host on the Cyclone Radio Network and can be heard daily from 4-7 on Des Moines' top-rated sports station, 1460 KXnO. Williams, a 2007 graduate of Iowa State’s Greenlee School of Journalism, is the former publisher of the old CycloneNation.com (Scout.com). He has also written for the Des Moines Register, the Ames Tribune, CycloneReport.com and is the former sports director at KMA Radio. When Williams isn’t working, you can usually find him doing something outdoors with his wife Ashley, daughter Camryn, and Golden Retriever Dierks. He enjoys golfing, boating, country music, the Minnesota Vikings, Atlanta Braves and is passionate about any and all motor sports so finding Williams at a local dirt track is very common.
