Iowa City West forward Jeremy Morgan took an unofficial visit to Iowa State on Monday. After getting home safely that same night, Morgan took a phone call from a member of the Iowa State basketball coaching staff.

“They called me and offered me last night,” Morgan told CycloneFanatic.com on Tuesday morning.

Morgan, a 6-foot-6, 175-pound small forward, averaged 14.8 points per game for his Iowa City West team that went 26-0 and won the Iowa 4A state championship a year ago. Along with Iowa State, Morgan currently claims offers from Northern Iowa, Creighton, Drake, Rice and Weber State.

Morgan has also been recruited by some schools to play football but said that his plan is to play basketball in college. Monday marked the first time that Morgan had been on a basketball unofficial visit to Iowa State. “It was good. I looked around campus for a little while,” said Morgan. “I watched the guys practice and played some pick-up with the guys afterwards.”Due to the fact that Morgan is a legitimate division one prospect in two sports, his athleticism  ability is obviously a big strength. Combing that with Fred Hoiberg’s fast-paced style of play, this seems like a good fit.

“I like their style of play. I like to get out and run,” said Morgan. “They said that they like my ability to play more than one position. They like my ability to shoot the ball and get out and go if I get a rebound.”

Morgan could play the two and the three at the college level.

Morgan was a 43.9 percent shooter from 3-point range (54-for-123) as a junior. He went 71-for-84 from the free throw line (84.5 percent) as well.

Morgan said that he expects to make his college decision sometime in August. “I’m talking with my parents a lot,” said Morgan. “It will probably be after our big tournaments that we have coming up in July.”Morgan is currently playing AAU ball for the Iowa Barnstormers.”I’m trying to keep an open mind and enjoy this experience.”Associate head coach T.J. Otzelberger is heading up Morgan’s recruitment for Iowa State.
