Fred Hoiberg added a highly-ranked point guard to his 2013 recruiting class on Wednesday afternoon.
Monte Morris, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound floor general from Flint, (Mich.) Beecher, announced his decision at a press conference from his high school.
Morris unofficially visited Iowa State earlier this month and chose the Cyclones over the likes of: Illinois, Butler, Cincinnati, Arizona State, Georgia Tech, USC, Providence, Princeton and Rhode Island.
According to Rivals.com, Morris is a four-star prospect. The recruiting publication ranks him as the 82nd best prospect in college basketball’s class of 2013.
Morris joins Onalaska, (Wisc.) shooting guard Matt Thomas in Iowa State’s 2013 recruiting class.
Morris will be the third scholarship Michigan prospect that assistant coach Cornell Mann has brought to Iowa State, joining Sherron Dorsey-Walker and Percy Gibson. Will Clyburn and walk-on Cameron Fowler are also from the state of Michigan.
Morris averaged 18.3 points, 6.4 assists and 5.4 rebounds per game as a junior.
