Georges Niang is a Cyclone

Chalk one up for Iowa State head basketball coach Fred Hoiberg on the recruiting trail.

Georges Niang, a 6-foot-7 235-pound 2012 prospect out of Tilton School in New Hampshire, has verbally committed to Iowa State. That’s according to the following tweet that Niang sent out on Sunday evening.

“MADE MY COLLEGE DECISION COMITTED TO IOWA STATE THANK YOU TO ALL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY FOR HELPING ME THROUGH THIS PROCESS #CYCLONENATION

Niang had additional scholarship offers from Texas A&M, Providence and Iowa to name a few.

Niang was one of Iowa State’s top prospects and is its first known commitment in the class of 2012.

Niang led the Tilton School to its fourth straight Class AA NEPSAC title earlier this spring.

For more information on this commitment, check out CycloneFanatic.com on Monday.
