Georges Naing pleasantly surprised on his unofficial to ISU

By Chris Williams, CycloneFanatic.com Publisher

It isn’t what Georges Niang expected it to be.

Correction: It isn’t what other people told Georges Naing he would see on his unofficial visit to Iowa State.

“People told me about all of the corn. I haven’t seen any corn yet,” Niang joked with CycloneFanatic.com on Thursday afternoon. “I want to see some cornfields! I’m just playing.”

Niang, a 6-foot-7, 230-pound forward out of the Tilton School in Massachusetts is in Ames today getting his first look at Iowa State.

“My first impression is that it is more normal here than people give it credit for. It looks fine to me. I could live out here. The campus is really nice,” Niang said. “A lot of people have told me that there isn’t anything out there. I guess I’ve seen it differently.”

Niang currently claims offers from Iowa State, Iowa and a handful of mid-major schools on the east coast. He is also receiving serious interest from the likes of Texas A&M, Colorado and Providence.

Niang said that he plans on taking an unofficial visit to the University of Iowa tomorrow.

So far, so good for Iowa State.

“Everybody is nice,” Niang said. “From the managers, to the assistant coaches, just everybody is nice. They are genuine, straight up people and they’ve been very welcoming on my visit.

Niang plans to study business at the next level.

CycloneFanatic.com will be sure to keep you updated on Niang’s recruitment.
