Speedy DB commits to Cyclones

By Chris Williams, CycloneFanatic.com Publisher

Iowa State now has eight verbal commitments for the football recruiting class of 2010.

According to Rivals.com, Sam Richardson, a 5-foot-9, 180-pound defensive back out of League City, Tex. made his pledge to the Iowa State coaching staff last night.

Richardson chose Iowa State over known offers from Air Force and Navy.

As a junior, Richardson’s stat line looked like this: 68 tackles, six interceptions, 14 pass deflections, three forced fumbles and eight blocked kicks.

You can watch his highlight video up above via YouTube.

Richardson joins fellow Texan Jared Brackens (North Mesquite) as the second defensive back in Iowa State’s 2010 class.

Rivals.com credits Iowa State’s running back coach Kenith Pope as Richardson’s primary recruiter.
