Cyclones add DE to 2011 class

According to CycloneReport.com, Iowa State picked up its seventh verbal commitment of the 2011 recruiting class on Friday. This appears to be a good one. His name is David Irving, a 6-foot-7, 230-pound defensive end out of San Jacinto, Calif.

Irving chose Iowa State over offers from Colorado State and Nevada, but was reportedly receiving interested from PAC 10 schools like USC and UCLA.

Chris’ Take

You wanted some defensive linemen? How about one that is 6-foot-7? Does that work. At the very least, Iowa State’s coaching staff will have a fun time molding this rangy prospect into the type of defensive player they want. Just imagine if Irving can put on another 30 pounds. You’d then see a 6-foot-7, 260-pound monster on the line. Can the Clones suit this guy up this season?

Great pickup for Iowa State in my opinion.
