YMCA CCL Recap for Sunday, June 27

By Chris Williams, CycloneFanatic.com Publisher

Here is a look at how current and future Cyclones performed during action at last night’s YMCA Capital City League competition.

Melvin Ejim – This freshman-to-bedropped 40 points, while going 13-of-13 from the free throw line. Ejim also hit 3-of-5 3-pointers on the night. Ejim ripped down 20 rebounds for his Tim Forland Photography team as well, with five steals.

Bubu Palo – Iowa State’s red-shirt freshman point guard scored 17 points, while going 3-for-3 from 3-point range and 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Palo also recorded eight rebounds, while dishing out three assists.

Diante Garrett – DG scored 28 points, while going 11-of-15 from the field and 2-of-2 from behind the arc. Garrett recorded eight assists and seven rebounds on the night as well.

Darion “Jake” Anderson – Iowa State’s Northern Illinois transfer led his Granite Transformations roster with 27 points, while going 10-of-17 from the field. Anderson also handed out four assists in the game.

Chris Babb – Iowa State’s Penn State transfer scored 25 points, while knocking down 6-of-9 3-point shots on the night. Babb also dished out five assists with four rebounds.

DeMarcus Phillips – DeMarcus scored 22 points on Sunday night, while going 9-of-19 from the field. He only shot 3-of-9 from the free throw line. Phillips also had six rebounds and two assists in the game.

Notes:

– Scott Christopherson and Jamie Vanderbeken did not compete on Sunday night.

– I’m being told that Iowa State’s Eric McKnight is suffering from a high ankle sprain. He should be jogging again by the end of the week and playing in two weeks. Nothing major at all.
