McDermott visits ESPN

Greg McDermott received a tour that most sports fans dream about on Wednesday.

Where’s that?

The ESPN studios in Bristol, Conn. McDermott, along with Kansas State head coach Frank Martin, visited the “world-wide leader” to represent the Big 12 Conference in a series of interviews.

McDermott was back at practice today though and seemed excited about his recent trip.

“It was a good experience,” McDermott said. “I had never been to Bristol or the ESPN campus. From that standpoint, it was exciting. I got to talk Big 12 hoops and Iowa State basketball with quite a few different people. It was a long trip but it was well worth the time.”

McDermott was asked by one reporter if he ran into ESPN’s famed jokester, Kenny Mayne.

“I did not see Kenny Mayne,” McDermott said.

Who did you see then coach?

“I saw Bob Ley. He’s not someone who you want to see because of that Outside the Lines deal. I’m not sure you ever want to be featured on that show. I did see him. It was overall a great trip and a great experience.”
