ISU has sold 8,000 Insight Bowl tickets

According to Randy Peterson of the Des Moines Register, Iowa State has sold around 8,000 to the Insight Bowl, where the Cyclones will take on Minnesota on New Years Eve in Tempe, Arizona.

Peterson is also reporting that Minnesota has sold around 1,000 tickets.

Chris’ Take

It’s 10,500 but 8,000 is certainly an impressive number in my book at this point in time. What’s more astounding is Minnesota’s current numbers. That is pathetic. Expected, but pathetic. Jamie Pollard told reporters after Iowa State accepted the Insight invite that he would be happy to sell all 10,500 but he wasn’t “expecting” it. This is a good number in this day in age. Once again, Iowa State fans have stepped up to the plate for their school. Great job everybody. Expect there to be plenty more than 10,000 Cyclone fans who will invade Arizona next week. There are other avenues where other fans have purchased tickets. It’s very likely that the large number of Phoenix alumni bought their tickets through the bowl game itself.

Merry Christmas.
