Two members of Iowa State’s basketball team were honored by the Big 12 Conference today.
Craig Brackins was named the league’s player of the week for Nov. 16-22 and Marquis Gilstrap was named the conference’s Rookie of the Week.
This is the first time that Iowa State has ever swept these awards in the same week in the history of the Big 12.
Brackins averaged 25 points and 11 rebounds in wins over Drake and Mississippi Valley State. Brackins’ season average is now at 18.5 points per game and 8.3 rebounds.
Gilstrap averaged 14 points and seven rebounds in the two wins. That includes his career-high 21 points last night against Mississippi Valley State. Gilstrap is currently the Big 12’s fifth leading rebounder averaging 8.8 a game. He is second on the team in scoring at 13 points per game.
