I'm curious as to what many of you think our record will be when we begin Big 12 play with Texas Tech.

If anyone votes 7-5/8-4, you should be banned from entering Hilton and watching a Fred Hoiberg coached team. Only possibly losses I see is one in Hawaii and Iowa

I think we'll be undefeated after beating Kansas in Hilton, so there's that.

If someone votes 7-5/8-4, I suggest blinding them and probably "fixing" fingers to keep them from misusing the Internet again.

The correct answer is we will be in Lubbock Texas when we enter conference play.

One game at a time. One game at a time.

I'm feeling pretty good about the in-state games (although UNI is annoyingly nerve-wracking), but I really think we'll drop one in Hawaii. I've been around ISU too long, just can't bring myself to predict a perfect non-conference.

I'm freebasing the koolaid at this point.

We're undefeated rolling into Lawrence on Jan 29th!

Went with 10-2. Hoping to be proved otherwise.

While it is possible that this team drops a non-con game, looking at the schedule I expect ISU to be favored in each one upcoming. I was expecting a spilt between ISU's toughest games (Michigan and BYU) prior to the season and since they passed those test there is no reason to expect them to lose to lesser teams going forward.
The taste of Kool-Aid sure is sweet.

  11. Well, according to ESPN we will be in Lubbock....

I feel this board always overestimates the football team and underestimates the basketball team. Why?

I think we could definitely be undefeated going into conference play, but voted for one loss because it's very possible we drop one somewhere, maybe in Hawaii.

I voted for one loss. If anything I can see us dropping one in Hawaii.

    I went with 9-3.

I have a hard time believing we will get through two in state games without losing one. It's their Superbowl... wrong sport, but you get the point.

Second loss may come in Hawaii, hard to focus...

Third loss I don't really see happening but don't want to get kicked in the midsection before conference so like to prepare myself for 9-3, that way I feel great about anything better... weird reasoning but why I went with 9-3.

I wanted to put 12-0, but just couldn't do it. Call me conservative at 11-1.

IMO, we are, at worst, 11-1.

I had to chalk up one loss....somewhere. We're going to have an off-night one of these games.

12-0. Call me a homer, Kool-aid addict, whatever - I don't care. As I look at the remaining games before conference play, I just don't see a game that makes me say "OMG no way we win that without a miracle". I was one that thought we'd lose the Michigan and BYU games - "Too soon in the season", I says. "Too many new faces", I says. Well, this team has proved me wrong every step of the way. Couple that with Fred's various comments about the focus and intensity level of this team and the fact that they all REALLY care about each other - I just don't see how we drop a stinker against a mediocre team. Upcoming slate:

    UNI - KenPom rating (94)
Good, but not great UNI team. Have to win this one - no excuses.

    Iowa - KenPom rating (10)
This will be our toughest test since BYU/Michigan.
However, it's in Hilton and we are battle-tested.

    George Mason - (112)

Road test, time zone differences, tournament atmosphere makes this a bit tricky. But we all know how our last 'tricky' game played out against UMKC.

    Oregon St (103) / Akron (132)
Same level of competition as George Mason. If we get past GM, we keep rolling to champ game.

    Boise St (56) / St. Mary's (40) / South Carolina (101)
This is for all the marbles. Any of the three would be tough but I'd love to see a Frank Martin team in the finals against Hoiberg. Two great coaches, would be a great game. If we lose one in Hawaii, it would be this game.

    Northern Illinois (325)
    Woof.
