20 years $3 billion or $150 mil. Year. By contrast, the Dodgers make $45 mil/yr on their deal with fox.

TV deals like this are only going to widen the gap between the haves and the have not's. There's no way that teams like KC, Milwaukee, or Pittsburgh could ever get that kind of local TV revenue.

Texas will have to use this money to make payments on the debt used to make the recent acquisition of the team, not on any better players.

That's not the way USA Today is reporting it.

You do realize the Rangers will have PLENTY left over after they pay off their debts to do whatever they want, right? They could probably pay off their debt with the revenues of year one alone. This is $150 mil/yr BEFORE any other additional revenues are made before operation.

As far as the Pittsburghs, KCs, and others of the world goes - try winning some championships at a rate greater than once every few decades.

Lol. For some reason I thought Walker Texas Ranger when I saw the title. Came into the thread wondering if they are remaking it, or if Chuck Norris has a new show.

How is this possibly worth it? Do that many people watch Rangers games?

I don't know how all these Fox regional networks are tied together financially, but might this somehow temper what FSN could bid for the upcoming Big 12 TV contact?

    A few comments-

I agree it does sound like they will have plenty of money to spend, but I don't know if this is a $100 million increase or $75MM or $50MM, but the guy who owned it before went into bankruptcy.

Anyone who has a question about how well University of Texas will do with their own network can look to the effect of all the households in the State of Texas on this deal!

With the assumption of debt they paid $600 million and agreed to spend additional money so I think it will take more than one year to pay off, but I agree this TV deal will help them collateralize the loan!!
