I'm hearing that Iowa State really put the full-court press on Greg Gooch (LB out of Florida) yesterday. Sounds like there's a very real chance that he could make a commitment at some point before signing day. Here are his Rivals and Scout profiles.

Would be a nice catch at LB. I'm still a little concerned about NT.

Now, if we could only sign two OLB prospects named Tommy Taint and Perry Neum, we'd be set!

Even if he looked like a scrub I'd be on board just to hear the crowd go "GOOOOOOOOCCCCHH!" every time he got a tackle.

And after we come from nowhere to win the national championship and they make a movie about it he could be played by Don Choatle.

Some new guys show up (in the summer) at Iowa State somewhat smaller than their advertized height and weight. I was in the immediate vicinity of Greg Gooch prior to the start of the game (during his official visit to Ames). He is every bit of 6'2" and 235 pounds. GG certainly has the build to play middle LB.

If we land him, would Cy's Lockerroom be allowed to sell me a personalized jersey with his number and the name "Taint" on the back or would that be too close to his "likeness"?

Lyman LB Greg Gooch down to Cincinnati, Iowa State, Indiana - Orlando Sentinel

Article from April 13' "Longwood Lyman High linebacker/defensive end Greg Gooch had an eventful weekend, and finally, the 6-foot-2, 235-pounder has his first offer. Iowa State invited Gooch to play for the Cyclones near the end of last week, and then over the weekend he took an unofficial visit to Alabama."

Is he academically qualified or still working on it?? Seems like one of those types of guys at this stage in the game.
