They lose 1 scholarship for the next 3 years and Chip Kelley has 18 month show cause.

    Nothing to see here....

Still pretty small potatoes, but there is a little more that wasn't mentioned in OP.

And we'll get hammered big time because of impermissible phone calls and text messages? What a joke

Weren't our self imposed sanctions worse than this for phone calls? And the phone calls seemed to have no intent to break rules whereas this obviously does.

I can't believe how lucky Oregon is. Not only did they get a slap on the wrist, but the very same day the NCAA announced the "penalties" the DOMA court decision was announced and a famous NFL player gets charged with murder. Unbelievable.

"and banned the program from using recruiting services during the probation period."

Holy Cow schools can pay recruiting "services". Of course they become a middleman for payouts. Why do the cases where there is real cheating rarely result in real punishments? Oh sure Oregon didn't mean to cheat, totally unintentional.

I think the NCAA is under a microscope with the way they handled the Miami case. Probably not going to crack down on anyone.

Anyways, its like waiting to get called for at the DOT... and now our number is up.
