I think just 12 hours ago they said it was mostly going to be SE of Des Moines. Now they are saying slightly north. It will probably be on track for west of here tonight.

Looks like snow totals are already a lot further north than this AM.

Storm comes onshore tomorrow afternoon/evening so I'd expect models to bounce around a bit till then.

Especially considering Des Moines straddling rain/snow line in many of them.

I would say around 3-4" at this point with more along hwy 30 in eastern Iowa. You could get into amounts in the 8" range in some of those areas.

Des Moines, at this juncture, looks like it may be right on the changeover line at first, which could mean some rain and a glass ceiling on totals.
I live in crapids which is along hwy 30 in eastern Iowa. Say it isn't soooo.

Sorry. I wouldnt put too much money on it yet though so don't panic this early. Still chance DSM and CR could see rain on the front end that would choke down snow totals quite a bit.

Or they will call for 4 inches and we will get 14

I'm trying to think of a time that's ever happened around here. A few times we got 4 when they predicted 2. Usually though it's beefed up waaaay early in the forecast and then the totals push back down. Conspiracy between weather guys and bread/milk manufacturers.

With any luck we will be there by Tuesday.

Kinda funny how everyone blames the weather guy for hyping things but every meteorologist I know is holding off until tomorrow morning to start making real solid predictions.
