Seems a bit harsh, especially since the girl lied about her age.

How the hell do you order someone off the internet? Sounds nice, but I can't imagine that they can make sure he stays off.

That's what I was thinking. I'm all for putting Sex Offenders behind bars, but when you're online, the girl tells you she's 18, how are you supposed to know?

I don't understand how his free speech rights weren't violated. He probably needed a better lawyer. Don't you have to actually do something criminal or act on your words in order to get in trouble?

My guess would be that there is more to this story than what is being published

My guess is dude went over to the "18 year old's" house to take said shower, thinking she lived on her or with friends being "18" and all. Shows up at a house with a 15-year old and parents. Parents turn him into the cops, and that is where he gets busted for talking to a 15-year old.

Perhaps but I still don't believe it makes it illegal. If she told him she was 18 and his intent was to shower (or do anything else) with a consenting adult, he should be cleared. I'm guessing there is more to the story.

As far as I'm concerned this is even worse than those Dateline NBC "To Catch a Predator" shows (okay, you got a scumbag off the streets - would that person have been a scumbag had you not enticed them into breaking the law?). This is probably where the girl got the idea. I'm not condoning what the guy did, but the girl advertises she's 18 and he gets rung up because he was lied to? Just doesn't seem right to me.

When are people going to get it through their heads that you have absolutely no idea who they are talking to online if they met online in the first place?

    Albuquerque>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Mason City.

Not enough >'s in the world to describe how much better Albuquerque is than Mason City.

Now if we were comparing Mason to Austin, MN or Fort Dodge than we would have a battle.

Time to venture out of Mason and see what else is out there.

Agreed. The big difference is that on "To Catch a Predator" they know in advance that the girl isn't 18. In this case the guy was mislead to believe that she was in fact 18 when she wasn't.
