No Suspension for Kane! I posted this elsewhere...

In May of 2011, the NCAA approved rule changes to the way that flagrant fouls were handled. They are now split into two types (like the NBA categories), and there is no longer a suspension given for the next game.

Good. It looked bad but I really doubt it was intentional

Good news. I was wondering about that.

Yeah, it was really weird. Got to believe it was not intentional.

Absolutely ridiculous that they called it a flagrant two. I can see maybe a flagrant one but even then was it really any different than the one on BYU.

Horrible ejection. Anyone that has played basketball should be able to see he went up to prevent the shot and the player pump faked right into. Looked way worse than it was.

I thought flagrant foul 1 was used to replace what was previously called "intentional foul". And fragrant foul 2 replaces what was previously simply called fragrant foul. If that is the case, the correct call was made.

What happened exactly? I didn't see. Did he purposely go for the dudes eyes?

Meh, suspend him for a game. We can take on UMKC without him, it'll give Bluford and/or SDW a chance to showcase their skills.

Even though it looked intentional, I really don't think he was trying to gauge the guys eyes.

Also, protip on pictures like that. You can change the "large" at the end of the address to "small" and post it like I did.

It may have been technically the correct call, but it was an obvious accident. I thought there was an incidental contact clause to the rule. If not, still can't figure out how hogue fouled a guy with his bloodied lower lip. Refs were out of their league tonight unfortunately and both teams suffered.

THe more I look at the still frame, it really doesn't. That's the thing though, this happened so fast and quick I don't think Deandre really thought he was gonna get both eyes and thumb-in-mouth. Not to mention left hand around throat.
