I watch a the per-award show on ESPN and one guy wanted to give it to the CB at LSU, Honeybear or whatever, and the other guy was going for the RB from Alabama. One guy said he could never give it to a guy who's team was just 8-4?????? It has really gotten idiotic how you have to be on a NC team to be the best player in the country. Baylor had 3 losses, but all were to good teams and RG3 had 350 to 400 throwing in those losses. If Baylor had Alabama's defense, they would probably only had one loss all season. As for the guy from Alabama, he got to play against an easier schedule and got lots of carries because the rest of the Alabama offense stinks.

(Might want to fix the thread title.)

But yes, I agree that RGIII should absolutely win the Heisman. If he or Matthieu doesn't win it, it'll be the same situation as when Suh didn't win it. That year, Suh was clearly the best player in college football. Clearly. And he didn't win it. That was the last time I had any hope for a non-QB or RB to win the Heisman Trophy.

He should, but I don't think he will. Just because he isn't at a high profile school. Mark it down.

I think he'll get it, but it's going to be very close. I bet everyone besides Ball gets a decent amount of first place votes.

The Heisman goes to the "best player in the country" last time I checked. IMO opinion this is how the voting should go:
    1. RGIII
    2. Monte Ball
    3. Tyrann Matheu
    4. Trent Richardson
    5. Andrew Luck

    But will probably go:
    1. Trent Richardson
    2. Andrew Luck
    3. RGIII
    4. Monte Ball
    5. Tyrann Matheu

I will say that this is a very competitive group and it is very hard to compare them. Voters unfortunately will look at wins as a factor.

I won't be surprised if Richardson wins it, but I won't be happy about it. Total SEC bias.

If he doesn't, something is really screwed up but already knew that.

BTW Jeffery, does your wife know she's your avatar on here? :jimlad:

I really think RG3 will win it, but won't be surprised if Richardson wins it.

I think it is Luck's to lose and he'll win the Heisman. The voters are going to look at all of his hype and how he came back for another year of college football and led is team to an 11-1 season.

I remember when Peyton Manning came back for his senior year and had not got a Heisman yet in his career, it seemed like a forgone conclusion he was going to win it. Then a defensive back beat him out.

You just never know. Heisman voters and their agendas and bias are unpredictable

Check out this website. They already have it all figured out. RGIII in a landslide.

Stiff Arm Trophy: Who is the most outstanding college football player in America?

Click on "The Big Chart" to see an itemization of who voted for whom. It is the most info I've ever found before or after the announcement.

One of the coolest things this year has been watching the QBs make receptions. RGIII's in traffic was the best. However, Luck had a good one also.

I think rg3 will win, he has picked up tons of momentum since the OU win. No one else has really dominated like he has this year.

Really? His team lost 3 times and 2 of those were in blowout fashion.

I guess I'm not sure why he's supposedly the leading candidate.
