Is there something on which you splurge, even though you know you shouldn't? Hats, video games, music, etc. What's your money-draining item?

    For me - clothes.

Beer. Craft beers. If I see something I haven't tried, I need to buy it and try it.

I want a new bike, I don't need one, but the one I really want is way too much money. I am having a hard time resisting just going and getting it today. So it is not a splurge, yet.

Video games. I have way, way too many. But it's about the only thing I buy for myself, and we tend to live under our means in most other categories (smaller house, more basic car, etc).

My wife splurges on clothes and shoes, so there isn't any left for me...

I'd say Craft Beer for me and random golf equipment, you'd think I was on the tour.

    Nice hotels.

The Pattee (Perry). The Blackhawk (Davenport). The Savery (Des Moines).

The Hotel at Kirkwood Center, run by Kirkwood students (Cedar Rapids).

Next on my list is The Park Inn (Mason City), designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.

I don't splurge on one particular item. My wife and I got into some financial issues last year and are finally getting back on the right track, so I have greatly limited myself from purchasing a lot that would be considered a splurge.

Having said that, my mid-morning snack of Xyience Cran Razz and a to-go bag of wasabi & soy sauce almonds is the snack of champions.

Always doing house projects. It's kind of a splurge. My parents house for the most part has remained unchanged in 20 years, and I keep thinking, "I could change out the vanity, I would like new carpet, how about a deck."

Also, my biggest splurge is probably ISU athletics. Clothes, donations, and following the team. I've been to most current and ex Big 12 football stadiums, bowl games, etc.

Eating out. I can almost always convince myself it is cheaper to eat out than to spend time to make food just for myself.
