want to beat Iowa more than any other team? I'm just curious.

Personally I'd rather beat any B12 team on our schedule before Iowa. I'll admit that it hasn't always been that way but it has for some time.

No, but a win is a positive no matter the team.

In my heart I'd rather beat Iowa. In reality conference wins will do us more good.

I'd take a Big XII road win over Iowa any day.

I believe it is WAY more important to win any B12 game, but personally I enjoy the pleasure of an ISU win over Iowa over any of B12 victories. Only because of the fans that are so annoying the rest of the year.

Really...you'd rather beat Colorado than Iowa? How about Kansas State? You get made fun of for 12 months by 12 year olds and idiot Wildcat fans all over town if we lose to Kansas State?

Somehow I doubt it..Iowa is the biggest win on the schedule for about 2 million reasons and this game should be treated as such. It's a must win. Maybe not every single year but if this program is to move forward we have to beat Iowa on a consistant manner. We could lose to Oklahoma State every year for the next 15 and it wouldn't come close to destroying our program like losing to Iowa 15 years in a row would.

Yes. Doing well in the conference is great. But the conferences is not "one team". Id enjoy beating iowa more than id enjoy beating any individual team on our big 12 schedule this year, except OSU. OSU would be huge.

Of course everyone would rather beat a big 12 team. Fortunately, we don't have to choose one.

The most important game is the next one. Last week it was NDSU, this week it's iowa, next week it will be Kent State.

Cliche says I want to beat whoever is next on the schedule....

To answer what you're getting at ... Probably whichever team is more prominent at the time. If I could trade a win against iowa for a win versus Texas or OU, I would.

My opinion of a season isn't made or broke on a win/loss against iowa. (Winning makes the season more tollerable from a fan standpoint.....)

I want to beat everyone. Every game must be a victory....that is how I feel.

However....since the OP has asked the question...for this year......I would rather have a VICTORY over Nebby on the road more than a W against EIU at home for sure.

Other years might be different.....but it has been like forever since we have won in Lincoln.

The thing that comes with beating Iowa is satisfaction knowing how the hawk fans feel after you beat them. It's considered a rivalry for many reasons. Winning rivalries are huge to the team, the fanbase and detrimental to the losers of that game.

Having said that, I'd rather beat Nebraska, OU, Texas, etc... any year

I find this whole discussion disingenuous. Like Cyclone fans like to play down the game because their hawk buddies seem to think we all think it's our "super bowl" so lets all just say we'd rather beat Kansas. Right.

This is not to say Big 12 wins are not huge. At this point every win is huge but stop pretending the Iowa game is not the biggest game on the schedule. It is. For both teams.

+1, agreed. Now if it comes down to Nebby, Texas, or OK I would choose the Big 12.

Well said. I agree with this.

  18. I'd put beating Iowa up there with Oklahoma, Nebraska.

I suppose it depends on the perspective. Would I rather beat iowa and shut their fans up (at least for a few hours...) - hell yes.

But does that win do as much for the program as a win over a current true power like Texas or OU does? I don't think so.

iowa has a good ball club and would be an excellent win should we prevail. Despite their fans' seemingly year in and year out expectation as being the 'heir of football greatness' - they are no Texas or OU.

Since we don't play those two this season - a win over NU in in Lincoln and ending a 30 yr drought there would be pretty huge. Hard to say which of the two would "mean more" to the program. So I'll just avoid the quandry and take both W's, thank you very much.

Agree with this as well. I'd take a win over Texas or Okie but the OP said 'any' big 12 team. That's just silly.
