Hey Fanatics, looking for a little travel help here. I am heading to Detroit for their marathon in about 10 days and I wanted to know if there are any areas I need to visit while in town or any areas I need to stay out of. I will be getting a hotel for a night as well, so any tips there are appreciated. Thanks for any help you can offer.

If you take $100 in cash, you could buy 3 houses unless you get killed first.

If you are flying, go on Delta as they will get you to/back more quickly if you encounter issues. Just based on the fact that they have a hub there, so more opportunities for flights

    Quit being a delta bravo.

There's plenty to do in the Detroit Metro.

Ford Museum/Rouge River Factory Tour and Greenfield Village is an easy way to spend a day.

I haven't been there yet, but I've heard nothing but great things about Greektown. Casino and night life.

Most of my experiences are family-oriented as I have a young daughter, and the Detroit Zoo is a really good one, and there are several parks in the area if that's your thing.

For other ideas, check out this web site. Metro Detroit - Tourism and Travel | VisitDetroit.com - VisitDetroit.com

As far as hotels, stay in the suburbs. Many choices of hotels.

Don't go to Detroit. That's my Detroit travel advice. Been there a few times, not a fan at all.

My advice: drink some Michigan craft beer. One of the best beer states in the country.

Don't go. One of the last places on Earth I would ever live, much less voluntarily go to. Whatever streets you run on, there were probably innumerable felonies committed on within hours of you running in them. One of the worst places I have ever been to in my entire life.

Get a Toyota as a rental car and just drive around and laugh.

Detroit is one those places you'd never want to live in, but it's pretty fun for some weekend partying, like Mexico. Unless you're staying in the burbs then it's like everywhere else. Greektown and the Ford museum are good times. If you're in your 20's, cross the border into Windsor, there's a pretty fun party scene. Rules like open container, drunk driving and running stoplights are common there so if you're driving around feel free to enjoy those newfound freedoms and beware the locals enjoy them as well.
